MOM JEANS TO DINS! HOW SOCIAL MEDIA RUINED MY PERSONAL STYLE

Mom Jeans simply put are high waisted jeans with a slightly relaxed fit. The rise of the “Mom Jeans” started the whole, relationship names for jeans (pun intended!). Since most people searching for this vintage denim were young 80’s jeans were worn by their mothers… mothers who stuck to this particular style.

I am now the girl who wears mom jeans to dinner/drinks. Who knew that this could ever be me? If you'd told me this about three years ago I'd seriously never believe you. My personal style at the moment is slowly coming together, and it's heading in a direction that I am really happy with. Initially, when I started my blog, I wanted to showcase really out there and distinctive looks, but if I'm to be honest, I wasn't being true to myself.  I think that I was mainly trying to showcase a style heavily influenced by others (e.g. the WAGS ladies, Kim K etc) and was very confused about who I was and my personal style. As an example, I was never truly comfortable wearing high stiletto heels that you could only walk two steps in without being in pain or the slinkiest dress ever that left no room to breathe.  I seriously find it funny that as an adult, I was still trying to fit in in like a kid in high school.
Admittedly, I can see how this happen to me, we live in a world highly influenced by social media. We live in a world where little girls want to get lip fillers at 12 because Kylie Jenner has them. You'd have to be a complete robot to not give in at times. I started to become aware of this and how everything that I saw on social media had an influence on me (not the lip filler bit though, I am perfectly happy with me, but you get what I mean.. ) I decided one day to accept myself and my style and I knew that ultimately most of you would appreciate the honesty and my genuine style growth of now being the girl wearing mom jeans to dins!

  1. Mom jeans are cool! There's definitely something more cool when you're not doing "The Most" ya know? It's cool to be casual. At least, that's what I say (as someone who is currently wearing mom jeans).
